Hi there, I’m Lewis!
Wedding Photographer | Party Starter | Animal Trivia King
I was born to be active. Playing sports, trying different activities, I was always outside. Nothing has really changed. I am always outside now, playing sports, exploring, or taking photographs. I studied Sports Science at university and have a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology. After university, I worked in Financial Services and left my sporting dreams behind.
Away from the outdoors, I enjoy comedy films – especially from the late 90’s and the 2000s. After a long day, my favourite way to unwind is to put on a hilarious film and just laugh the evening away. I am always up for comedy film recommendations so let me know your favourites!
I have a huge passion for learning different things and gaining new experiences. I just love being in new environments that are challenging and that’s maybe why I suit wedding photography so well. I love that no wedding is the same and you have to think quickly to get the very best results.
Lastly, having a good time with my family and friends is a must for me. I am always up for a party and I have been known to turn quiet nights into more eventful adventures!. So, really, I am perfect for weddings - espcially on the dancefloor with my camera. I have no problem being the first one on the dancefloor and the last one off!
How I Became A Hampshire Wedding Photographer
I hadn't set out to be a wedding photographer, I wanted to be a footballer, or a lawyer or even a zookeeper! But was always amazed that you could capture a special memory just through the click of a button. I think memories are so important and capturing those memories is an absolute must! Looking back on special times is something that everyone should have.
Before I became a wedding photographer in Hampshire and Berkshire, I worked in Financial Services and ran a fitness class – at the same time. Yes, they are two very different jobs, but I enjoyed the varied nature of them. But I’ve always loved photography since the first camera phone I owned in 2007. The creativity, the seemingly limitless nature, the ability to capture a moment in time forever to look back on - it is all so truly amazing.
When running a fitness class in 2019, I realised visual marketing was important and bought a camera and all the equipment to promote the classes and learnt the basics of photography and videography. Whilst the fitness class became moderately successful, I enjoyed the media elements as much as the fitness parts. When the fitness classes ended, I wanted to find a way to continue what I enjoyed, so Lewis Jones Photography was born in 2022.
I was lucky to learn from an experienced wedding photographer (that is close personal friend) to show me ropes and get me started photographing weddings. The first time we captured a couples wedding was a brilliant feeling. To be challenged to capture the best photographs possible for a couples’ special day was such a buzz and from then on I was addicted. It was literally on the job learning. Since then, I have continued to regularly photograph weddings, each one being different but equally as enjoyable as the last.
Documenting the most incredible day of people’s lives, and capturing those moments in time for them to remember forever is why I love what I do.
What Will It Be Like To Have Me As Your Photographer?
To me, photography is about capturing individuals feeling comfortable and relaxed. So, to be able to bring moments to life through my images is an amazing feeling.
Great lighting has always been a passion of mine when capturing moments. I pride myself on having photos that are bright and attractive so that you can really feel the emotion of the moment. Quality is important and, with wedding photography, I only want to provide the best to my couples.
I want put you at ease from our first meeting taking time to get to know you both so I can produce photographs that make you laugh and smile when looking back at time and time again.
As we get to know each other, I'll make you feel confident and relaxed in front of the camera while photographing your smiles, laughter and the moments you share together. Equally, I will be paying close attention to the candid moments between you and your guests.
Weddings are a 'one-time only' opportunity, which is why I give couples the confidence in me to capture their most cherished moments.
By the time your wedding day finally comes I am sure we'll feel like old friends, I'll aim to be your extra bridesmaid or the honorary best man but definitely your nan’s favourite guest. I know what it is like to have a camera in your face all day so I will be sure to keep the day relaxed and natural with minimal ‘fake smiles.’
If you haven’t done so already, please dive into my Wedding Portfolio and explore some of the recent photographs I've have taken at various venues and if you love my style and like my approach, please get in touch.
